Let me be the first to wish you a HAPPY CONFEDERATE HISTORY AND HERITAGE MONTH

In yet another blatant example of racial insensitivity, Brazos County Commissioners have issued a proclamation this past Tuesday declaring April as “Confederate History and Heritage Month.”

County Judge Duane Peters, clearly aware of the voluminous issues surrounding such an activity did his best to deflect what can only be termed reasonable and logical criticism by relating to local TV station KBTX that “We’ve been doing this for several years now and each year we approach this with sensitivity and caution…We’ve made sure there is language in the proclamation that acknowledges and condemns slavery.”

Apparently, Judge Peters, has much support in his desire to acknowledge the U.S. Civil War, which the South lost, I must add, and the many connections that Brazos County families have to the historical event.
