[dropcap]Flint[/dropcap] Mayor Karen Weaver said Gov. Rick Snyder’s pledge to drink filtered water drawn from a city home for the next 30 days in an effort to convince others of its safety “does not impress us at all.”

Gov. Rick Snyder’s pledge to drink Flint water is leaving a sour taste with the city’s mayor.

In an increasingly acrimonious war of words over water, Mayor Karen Weaver told reporters Tuesday that Snyder’s pledge to drink filtered water drawn from a city home for the next 30 days in an effort to convince others of its safety “does not impress us at all.”

It’s “lucky for him that he can drink filtered water, because we have been dealing with this for two years, and we were drinking it when it wasn’t filtered,” the mayor said at her weekly news conference.

“If the governor really wanted to know what it’s like to deal with the situation that we’re in … he needs to come and stay here for 30 days and live with us and see what it’s like to use bottled or filtered water when you want to cook and when you want to brush your teeth,” Weaver said.
