[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ertha Lee recalled Wednesday how her 9-year-old grandson, Tyshawn, had stopped at her South Side house after school on a sunny November day in 2015. [mc4wp_form id=”6042″]
He raced off to play basketball at nearby Dawes Park — but not before telling “grandmama” that he loved her, she said.
“I said, I love you too,” said Lee, now 75. “… He said, ‘I’ll be back.’ ”
“He didn’t come back,” Lee told jurors in the first full day of testimony at the trial of reputed gang members Dwright Doty and Corey Morgan charged in Tyshawn’s execution-style killing.
